MARBLE

Marble (population 699) is located east of Grand Rapids on Highway 169. Incorporated in 1903, its history is in the mining industry, but the job base has become more diversified in recent years.

A site on the National Register of Historic Places, the Oliver Boarding House, was built in 1909 by Oliver Mining Company to help house some of the many incoming workers during the mining boom years.

City Government:

City Hall: : (218-247-7576) City Hall hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday. The council meets the second Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.

Business: seven businesses, two retail.
